As the cultural hub of the south, Atlanta always has something to celebrate! Commemorating historical milestones, appreciating the arts, and of course enjoying authentic Southern cuisine, are all just a few things you can enjoy at one of the many Atlanta festivals held throughout the year.
In January, a full week's festivities celebrate the birthday and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Events include the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's annual tribute, "A King Celebration," at the King Chapel of Morehouse College. A can't miss event is the MLK March & Rally in the Sweet Auburn District. Other events include the Salute to Greatness Awards banquet, which honors individuals committed to MLK's ideals, a Commemorative Service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, as well as exhibits, children's activities and concerts throughout the city.
Originating from a showcase of blooming trees and accomplished artists, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival has evolved into one of the largest events in the Southeast. Staged every April, you'll find the country's best painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelry makers, glass blowers, and other artists.
Eat, drink, and enjoy all that's Southern at the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. Join award-winning chefs, sommeliers, beverage innovators, and industry experts on a culinary journey through the food and beverage traditions of the South every May in Midtown, Atlanta.
Ending with the largest Independence Day fireworks display in the Southeast, the Lenox Square 4th of July celebration is a must-see spectacular! The day's event kicks off with the Peachtree Road Race. Afterwards, enjoy live music, street vendors, plenty of food, and a Kids' Zone. The elegant Buckhead community provides a delightful backdrop for a day of fun, family, and festivities.
